Located about 40 kilometers from Jaisalmer, the Desert National Park is one of the largest national parks in India. It spans over 3,000 square kilometers and is renowned for its unique desert ecosystem. The park is home to a variety of wildlife species, including the endangered Great Indian Bustard, chinkara, desert fox, and desert cat. It provides a habitat for a range of desert-adapted species, including various types of reptiles, mammals, and birds. Visitors may encounter creatures like the spiny-tailed lizard, desert monitor lizard, and various species of vipers.

Tannot Mata Temple and Border Security Force Museum:
While not a traditional wildlife park, the area around Tannot Mata Temple and the Border Security Force Museum near the Pakistan border occasionally offers sightings of desert wildlife, including desert foxes, gazelles, and other small mammals. It’s important to note that access to this area may be restricted due to its proximity to the international border.

While these wildlife parks in and around Jaisalmer may not boast the dense forests or lush jungles typically associated with Indian wildlife sanctuaries, they offer a unique opportunity to observe the animals that have adapted to the harsh desert environment. Visitors can appreciate the resilience and beauty of these creatures while exploring the stunning desert landscapes of Jaisalmer.
